About the Course ATEX Awareness Course English
The ATEX Awareness Course English is aimed at anyone who works in or comes into contact with an explosive environment. If, for example, you work as an operator or production worker, but also as a cleaner or technical service employee, this could be a good course.
By attending this course, you will gain an understanding of the following:
- The occurrence of explosion hazards
- Recognizing and avoiding dangerous situations and/or explosions
- Certifications
- Legislation regarding explosion hazards
- Explosion-proof equipment and protective devices
Certification and Duration.
The ATEX theory is taught via e-learning. You can pause and resume the ATEX Awareness Course English at any time. We recommend studying the course thoroughly at least twice. After learning the theory, the participant answers a few questions in a test.
The total duration of the ATEX Awareness Course English is on average between 1 and 2 hours.
If the student completes the online exam with a correct score of 70% or more, they automatically pass.
This ATEX Awareness Course English is conform the IFCL:5051 Standard.

ATEX stands for Atmosphères Explosibles and refers to European directives for working in environments with a risk of explosive atmospheres, such as those involving gases, vapors, or dust. This course teaches you the basics of ATEX regulations, risk recognition, and safe work practices to prevent accidents.
The course is designed for anyone working in or with environments where explosive atmospheres may occur, such as in the chemical industry, oil and gas sector, food processing, or waste management. This includes operators, technicians, supervisors, and safety coordinators.
You will learn:
- The basics of ATEX regulations (EU Directives 99/92/EC and 2014/34/EU).
- How to recognize explosive atmospheres and classify zones (Zone 0, 1, 2 for gases; Zone 20, 21, 22 for dust).
- How to select and use explosion-proof equipment.
- Safety procedures and risk management to prevent explosions.
4. How long does the course take?
The E-learning course takes approximately 1 to 2 hours to complete, depending on your pace. You can progress through the modules at your own speed.
